Where to take the Wyoming courses
Wyoming is a small licensing market and the national schools do not all carry it. We list a school here only when we can confirm it sells the Wyoming courses.
Colibri Real Estate
- Covers the full 68-hour Wyoming pre-license course, so you finish the coursework in one place
- Self-paced online, so you can keep working while you study
- Narrated audio on every tier, useful if your commute is your study time
- Pass guarantee on the exam-prep tiers and above
The CE Shop
- Wyoming exam prep you can add to any course, useful because both portions are scored at 75
- Practice on simulated exams instead of re-reading notes, which is the harder half to self-teach
- Also sells the 45 hours of CE you will owe before your first renewal
- Does not appear to sell the Wyoming pre-licensing course itself — pair it with a school that does
How to get your Wyoming licence
Five steps, and the exam is split into two separately scored parts.
Meet the basic requirements
You must have reached the age of majority. Wyoming sets no residency requirement for a salesperson licence.
Complete the approved courses
Salesperson Course I (state and national portions), Salesperson Course II, and the Wyoming Law course, all Commission-approved. Statute sets a floor of not less than 30 class hours; approved courses run well past it. Finish them within one year before you apply.
Pass both exam portions
The national portion is 80 scored questions in 2.5 hours; the state portion is 40 scored questions in 1.5 hours. You need 75 on each, and they are scored separately.
Submit fingerprints and your application
Two fingerprint cards go in with the application, along with a photograph, proof of legal presence and your passing exam scores.
Line up a responsible broker
Your application needs a statement from a responsible broker recommending you and committing to supervise your work, so find the brokerage before you file.
From the Wyoming Real Estate Commission, the Wyoming statutes and the Pearson VUE candidate handbook, verified August 2026. Exam fees are $90 per portion if you sit online rather than at a test centre.
Wyoming FAQs
How many hours of pre-licensing does Wyoming require?
Wyoming does not publish a single headline number the way most states do. The Commission approves three courses — Salesperson I, Salesperson II and the Wyoming Law course — and statute sets a floor of not less than 30 class hours. In practice the approved courses run far longer: Colibri's Wyoming course is 68 hours. Check the hours on the specific course before you buy, and be wary of any site quoting a flat state total.
What score do I need to pass the Wyoming exam?
75 on each portion. The national and state portions are scored separately, so passing overall is not possible by averaging a strong result on one against a weak one on the other.
Can I retake just the part I failed?
Yes. If you pass one portion and fail the other, only the failed portion needs retaking — but you must pass it within six months of the portion you passed, or both go. There is a 24-hour wait before you can reschedule.
What does a Wyoming licence cost in total?
Roughly $960 at the low end: a course from around $559, $80 per exam portion at a test centre, and $300 for the original licence plus the $20 recovery fund payment. Sitting the exam online costs $90 per portion instead of $80.
Does Wyoming require post-licensing courses?
No. There is no separate post-licensing requirement. Instead you complete 45 hours of continuing education across each three-year renewal cycle — 24 required hours and 21 elective hours.
