Where to take the 90-hour Oklahoma course
Your course has to be approved by the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission and taught by an OREC-approved education provider. We list a school here only when we can confirm it sells the Oklahoma pre-license course.
The CE Shop
- Sells both halves of what Oklahoma actually asks for — the 90-hour Part I and the 45-hour Part II — so the course you need in month eleven comes from the same login
- Its course names track OREC's own wording, which makes the completion certificates easy for the Commission to match against your file
- Sold in tiers, so you can leave out exam prep if you would rather not pay for it
- Self-paced online, which matters because your online enrolment only stays valid for six months
Colibri Real Estate
- Also sells the 90-hour Oklahoma course, so it is a complete alternative for the pre-license half
- Its Oklahoma requirements page states the 45-hour post-license obligation correctly, so you are not blindsided by the second purchase
- Self-paced online, and it carries Oklahoma CE for the renewals that come after your provisional year
- Check the exam vendor yourself: Colibri's Oklahoma page tells candidates to register with PSI. Oklahoma moved to Pearson VUE — following that instruction sends you to the wrong site
How to get your Oklahoma licence
Six steps — and the order is not the one most states use, because the application comes before the exam.
Complete the 90-hour course
Ninety clock hours in an OREC-approved basic course. Two clocks run at once: an online enrolment is only valid for six months, and the completion certificate itself expires after three years.
Pass the school's own final exam
Oklahoma requires the course to end with an exam of at least 150 questions, and you need 75% to pass it. That is a higher bar than the state exam — treat it as a real test, not a formality.
Get your background check done
A national criminal history record check through IdentoGO, service code 2B7NR3, for a $60 processing fee. Results are valid for six months, so do not run it too early.
Apply to OREC and wait for approval
A one-time $35 application processing fee. Pearson VUE will not issue you a candidate ID until the Commission approves your file, so this step gates everything after it. Proof of citizenship means a birth certificate or passport — a driver's licence is not accepted.
Pass the Pearson VUE exam
Eighty national questions and forty Oklahoma questions, scored separately at 70%. Book both portions in the same order and the second is free; book them apart and you pay twice.
Complete 45 more hours within 12 months
The provisional licence lasts twelve months and cannot be renewed. Forty-five clock hours of post-license education must be finished before it expires, or you lose the right to renew.
From the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission, 59 O.S. § 858-302, OAC 605:10-3-1, 605:10-3-5, 605:10-3-7, 605:10-5-3 and the Pearson VUE Oklahoma candidate handbook, verified August 2026. Licence issuance fees are set by OREC's fee schedule rather than in statute — check the current figure before you budget. We found no errors and omissions insurance requirement in Oklahoma's licence code or rules; brokerages commonly require cover as a condition of joining them, which is a private arrangement rather than state law.
Oklahoma FAQs
How many hours of education does Oklahoma really require?
Ninety hours to get licensed, then forty-five more within twelve months — 135 hours in your first year. The 90 comes from 59 O.S. § 858-302(A), which requires "ninety (90) clock hours or its equivalent as determined by the Commission of basic real estate instruction in a course of study approved by the Commission." The 45 comes from OAC 605:10-3-7(d). Comparison tables that print "Oklahoma: 90 hours" understate the real first-year obligation by a third, and hide a second purchase.
Is the Oklahoma exam run by PSI or Pearson VUE?
Pearson VUE. This is worth checking carefully because stale sources are still circulating: one national school's Oklahoma requirements page tells candidates to register through PSI, and OREC itself still hosts an older application-process PDF that says the same. The Commission's live exam page, its current application-process document and Pearson VUE's own Oklahoma candidate handbook all agree it is Pearson VUE. Follow the Commission's live pages.
Can I book the exam as soon as I finish my course?
No. Oklahoma inverts the usual order. Both your application and your IdentoGO background check must be filed and approved by the Commission first; only then does OREC pass your details to Pearson VUE, which issues a candidate ID and a scheduling link. Budget for the Commission's review plus the background check before you can even choose an exam date.
What happens if I miss the 45-hour post-license deadline?
You lose the right to renew. OAC 605:10-3-7(h) says a provisional sales associate who fails to complete the post-license education before the first expiration date "shall not be entitled to renew such license," and the Commission states plainly that the provisional licence is non-renewable. There is no grace period in the rule. A provisional on active military duty can request a one-year extension, but the request has to be made in writing before the licence expires.
How long is my Oklahoma course good for?
Two different clocks. The completion certificate is valid for three years — 59 O.S. § 858-302(A) says the education "shall only be valid for a period of three (3) years from the date the school certified successful completion," after which you take another ninety hours. But separately, once you enrol in an online course you have only six months to finish it (OAC 605:10-5-3(i)(4)). Buy in January and it is void by July, whatever the three-year rule says.
Does Oklahoma require errors and omissions insurance?
We found no errors and omissions requirement in Oklahoma's real estate licence statute or in OAC Title 605, and none appears in the Commission's licensing or renewal guidance. Individual brokerages commonly require cover as a condition of joining them, but that is a private arrangement rather than something the state imposes. Confirm with the brokerage you plan to join.
